What to expect

From the first conversation to follow-up

1. Review your situation

A psychiatric evaluation considers symptoms, prior care, health history, current medicines, and what you hope will change. You do not need to decide on a medication before the visit.

2. Discuss a plan

If medication is clinically appropriate, Niesha can discuss potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and your questions. Psychotherapy, another service, or further assessment may be discussed instead. No specific prescription is guaranteed.

3. Revisit how it is working

At follow-up, discuss changes in symptoms and daily functioning, possible benefits or unwanted effects, and whether the plan still fits. The timing and format of follow-up depend on your clinical needs. Contact your treating clinician with medication concerns rather than changing a prescribed medicine based on website information.

Questions to bring

Consider asking what the treatment is meant to help with, what changes to watch for, what unwanted effects to report, and how to raise concerns between visits. Bring an accurate list of medicines and supplements you take and note any past treatment experiences you want Niesha to consider.

Medication is one possible care path

Evaluation and treatment planning may differ for adult ADHD, anxiety, and depression. These pages explain condition-specific questions without promising medication for any diagnosis.

Common questions

What is psychiatric medication management?

It is a clinical conversation about whether medication fits your care plan and, if it does, how you are responding over time. Niesha reviews your concerns and history before recommending a next step.

Do I need an evaluation before medication management?

Care begins with a clinical review of your concerns, history, current medications, and goals. Niesha determines whether medication management is appropriate and what follow-up is needed.

Does booking mean I will receive a prescription?

No. Medication is considered case by case after evaluation. A visit does not guarantee a prescription or a particular medication.

What happens at a medication follow-up?

You can discuss changes in symptoms and daily functioning, possible benefits or unwanted effects, and questions about the plan. Niesha determines whether to continue, adjust, or reconsider the plan and when to follow up.

Can my visit be virtual?

Video visits may be an option for eligible Kansas residents who will be physically in Kansas at appointment time. Missouri residents use eligible in-person Lenexa visits under the current scheduling policy. Confirm the particular service and format before booking.
